Food+Technology….two of my favorite things. Thanks to the ‘gram I came across a sponsored post for this shindig and was like hmmmmm que es esto? So to Google I went and found a press release with the below info “Food Loves Tech will allow the public to taste and touch, and see and smell, how technology is transforming our food chain. And to understand what it means for our future,” says Brian Halweil, Editor in Chief of Edible Manhattan, as well as sister titles Edible Brooklyn, Edible East End and Edible Long Island, all part of the national network of Edible magazines.
The premise is getting us to understand how pervasive technology really is becoming in our lives even when it comes to food production. So there is also a competition and the layout walks you through a little tour showing the different areas impacted. The event is from 6/10 to 6/12 with a special VIP event on 6/10. The VIP is two parts, one that’s like an open gallery and the other a dinner. Cant afford the $100, don’t sweat it as its open to the public on the 11th. Sounds like a good way to spend a summer weekend in NYC, right?
Remember a few weeks ago when I told you about this app that I found called Nail Snaps? You can create nail art using images and do it via an app. Well I finally tried them. Disappointed. Maybe it was my application skills but I just took them off after just 12 hours.
Now let me say, the packaging it super cute, easy enough to apply. Two sizes regular and petite. Peel and stick, like how can you eff that up right? Well first I had to get tweezers to take them off the sheet. Then I applied them, so far so good, pressed down filed the ends to remove the excess…..and then it got bumpy. So the edges became warped and the sides did some weird lifting. Because it has to be a specific applique I think as you file it pulls and makes the ends bubble and warp (or its me in my infinite slowness).
Now I love the idea, the application couldn’t be any easier, but ragged ends…. Oh no hunty! The second best part? It peels right off! So while running some reports I pulled the bad boys off and no more rough edges for this girl.`I do have another set, so I guess I’ll give it the old college try?
Or go back to being basic……and getting a mani the old fashion way
P.S I peeped the video on the site, and I’m slow….
I’m sure at one point we’ve all gotten a mani, heard about jam berry or tried to do DIY nail art. But the problem is either time, ideas, or stuck with whatever is in stock. So the other week I was on a plane flying home to Arizona and was reading the AA magazine when I came across this article about nail art and this app call Nail Snaps. Nail snaps allows you to take an image and have it printed onto adhesives for your nails. Way frickn cool! So all you do is download the app, pick a design, size and adjust it and viola new nail art. The cool thing is that you can be unique and do what YOU like versus having to pick from pre selected designs (BORING!).
So check out the page, download the app and get on your way to creating custom nail art. I’m going to order and let you guys know how it all turns out! And if you join check me out!
