Brunch at Oxford kitchen

So yesterday the BF and I went down to Atlantic term for some errands and decided to grab a bite to eat. I’ve walked past this place and have made a mental note to check it out. Oxford Kitchen is located at the crazy 5 way where Fulton, Lafayette, Hansen Pl and another street all meet up. So in we went (me being sold on chicken and waffles…) and grabbed a table. There was only one server who seemed indifferent about creating engagement due to being out all night. However the mimosas were B1G1 along with bloody marys or even a cucumber Bellini. We opted for mimosas, the BF ordered a prosciutto and egg sandwich and I the chicken a pumpkin and sage waffles. His was more like an open face ham and egg and my chicken was like breaded chicken strips. The home fries were WELL seasoned and had some heat, it seemed to be the same seasoning that was used on my chicken. The waffles were served with a maple butter and maple syrup. Initially there was no coffee, but half way through the waiter came by and asked if we wanted a cup. It was delish (maybe its because i had nasty soy creamer that morning) and we spoke on things that couple do. If your around stop in and check it out, overall 3 out of 5 forks.

Friday brunch at Cafe Orlin

So yesterday I met up with some friends for brunch in the city. Sadly not many places offer a Friday brunch, but thanks to the crew at the Brunch Gang (check out their blog) I found a spot. Located on St Marks and 2nd ave this is a quaint Mediterranean cafe, that serves breakfast until 4. I got the pumpkin pancakes, there was an egg sandwich ordered, as well as hummus and a mozzarella sandwich. Everything was decent and the menu varies based on what’s in season. The pancakes were a bit heavy for me an the yogurt with cinnamon was eh. My friend said the chicken and pistachio sausage was good. Nice place that is much larger than it seems. Beware when ordering americano coffee as thy make it one cup at a time. Overall good stuff, 3.5 forks out of 5.

Lunching in Clinton Hill

So Sunday I meet up with the gays and we had lunch at this great spot called Putnams Pub right on Myrtle ave in Brooklyn. they had booths and old photographs decorating the wall. The space was fairly spacious and relaxed. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes, there was an order for eggs Benedict, omelette’s and of course their famous buttermilk biscuits. This was naturally all washed down with copious amounts of coffee. Our waitress was great and super patient with us as we decided what we wanted to order. Overall the food and service was great so I would give this place 4 out of 5 forks.
